Entrepreneurs

“The world needs more entrepreneurs dedicated to improving agriculture through technology, but without the right data and strategy, they face an uphill battle to do it sustainably.”

— HENRY GORDON-SMITH, FOUNDER & CEO AT AGRITECTURE

Whenever an entrepreneur chooses to make an impact through urban agriculture, we feel a responsibility to guide them towards success. Our step-by-step methodology guides our entrepreneur clients through market research, crop selection, site selection guidance, farm design, and economic modeling, to help them plan successful farms. Our digital resources further assist with concept development, supplier selection, and financing.

There are more signs than ever that CEA newcomers are here to stay! According to our 2020 Census, 49% of CEA founders had no prior agricultural experience and 88% of founders were below the age of 50. Given this lack of experience, entrepreneurs need better support to guide their decision-making and avoid costly and time-consuming mistakes. In fact, our Census also found that 73% of founders regretted decisions related to the crop, equipment, and/or technology they selected initially.
