CEA Benchmarking Tool

Definitions & Next Steps

*Benchmarking Tool Definitions:

  • “Average Value” = Technically the median value of all CEA farms that reported numbers, given the filters you selected.
We decided to use median rather than mean here because there were multiple outliers that skewed the mean much higher.

  • ”Rank” = Usually called Percentile Rank. A measure of how your farm stacks up against all others that reported numbers for that metric, given the filters you selected. A lower percent rank would be considered better in each category, and 50% represents the median.
e.g. 36% = Your farm uses more energy (on a kWh per kg of product basis) than 36% of other CEA farms, and less energy than the other 64%. In other words, you were in the top 36th percentile of farms from an energy use standpoint.
