All farming has a carbon footprint. While indoor agriculture uses a lot of electricity for artificial lighting and climate control, urban farmers are quick to point out all the food miles and on-farm emissions that most fresh produce is responsible for. The current line of thinking is therefore: who emits less? But there is another side to the debate that is rarely discussed.
