Front-End Developer [Contract]
20+ hrs/wk | 3 months | Start Date: Immediate
Agritecture is a global, urban agriculture consulting firm based in Brooklyn, NY. Through feasibility studies and other service offerings, we provide our clients with the tools, data, knowledge, and network to ensure their success.
Agritecture is seeking a part-time (20 hr/wk) to full-time (40 hr/wk) contract-based developer to serve as our lead front-end, starting as early as August 1. This person will work closely with the rest of our team (graphic designer, UI-UX, back-end developer, data analyst, and product manager) to launch a new digital product.
We expect the scope of this work to last 3 months. Opportunity to continue working beyond this point will be dependent upon performance and initial success of the product. Some work can be completed remotely but we will give priority to candidates who can work from our Brooklyn office at least 2x per week.
Candidate should be comfortable with the following:
Experience developing responsive websites and Wordpress themes
Experience integrating Wordpress with custom MySQL databases and making calls to REST APIs
Custom Wordpress* site and theme development
Front-end pattern library for extension of MVP to future product iterations “Nice-to-Haves” (in order of priority)
“Nice-to-Haves” (in order of priority)
Experience with front-end design frameworks (Bootstrap, Foundation, jQuery, etc.)
Experience with user authentication (Firebase or other service)
Familiarity with Google Cloud Services, AppEngine, CloudSQL
Previous start-up / product experience
*Note: we could be open to other frameworks; Wordpress is the frontrunner because of its built-in user permissions, use of PHP / MySQL, user-friendly admin controls, and ease of deployment. If a candidate is familiar with other frameworks like Laravel or Drupal that deliver a similar user experience to Wordpress, that may work.
